An Ode to Daagh Dehelvi
,سب لوگ جدھر وہ ہیں ادھر دیکھ رہے ہیں
(Sab log jidhar woh hain udhar dekh rahe hain)
,ہم دیکھنے والوں کی نظر دیکھ رہے ہیں
(Hum dekhne walon ki nazar dekh rahe hain)
,تیور ترے اے رشک قمر دیکھ رہے ہیں
(Tevar tere, ai rashk-e-qamar, dekh rahe hain)
,ہم شام سے آثار سحر دیکھ رہے ہیں
(Hum shaam se āsār-e-sehar dekh rahe hain)
,اب تک تو جو قسمت نے دکھایا وہی دیکھا
(Ab tak toh jo qismat ne dikhaya wohi dekha)
-آئندہ ہو کیا نفع و ضرر دیکھ رہے ہیں
(Aindah ho kya naf’a-o-zar dekh rahe hain)
Translation:
Where others look, we gaze,
Seeing through the eyes of those amazed.
Oh, envy-worthy moon, they're watching you,
While we behold the morning's magical hue.
What fate revealed till now we've seen,
The future's gains and losses, yet unseen.
